BUI - Senior O365 Technical Consultant

The primary function of the Senior Consultant position is to ensure the technical delivery of technology projects for our customers. This will require that the Consultant have an expert understanding of the relevant technology to be able to establish the tasks required, to ensure the fulfilment of those tasks and to confirm successful delivery, support and maintenance of these technologies for our customers.

Consultants will also be required to articulate their understanding of these technologies through the technical writing of documentation which will be provided to customers during all projects.

Additional responsibilities may include the following:

  • Perform the role of Technical Lead on certain projects where required
  • Responsible for implementing part (or all) of the technical solution to the client, in accordance with an agreed technical design
  • Occasionally responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions
  • Often leads small-to-medium technical projects. Willing to work with and under the direction of the Project/Delivery Manager and with customer nominated representatives. Liaises with Solutions Architect as appropriate
  • Provide technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment
  • Provide advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined segments
  • Provide planning and design support for the development of solution architectures that will be implemented in a multiple system environment
  • Develop and recommend cost effective technical system improvements
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Candidate must be willing to work remotely and without supervision
  • Must possess positive, professional interpersonal skills and well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel (Own Transport Essential)
  • May be required to engage in pre-sales /presentation/ demonstration activities
  • Must be willing to certify and renew certifications where needed

Job requirements

Technical ability and working experience:

  • The understanding of a broad spectrum of technologies
  • Minimum 7 years general experience in the IT industry
  • Microsoft 365
  • Migration of Exchange on-prem to Microsoft 365 including OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online and Teams
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007/2010/2013/2016/2019
  • Microsoft Cloud Computing
  • Microsoft Azure AD
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Windows Server 2003/2008/2012/2016
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Microsoft SQL server
  • Implementation and troubleshooting of managed AV solutions. (Traps, Endpoint Security, Mimecast)
  • Implementation, troubleshooting and support of Hypervisor environments. (Hyper-V, VMWare)
  • Excellent understanding of TCP/IP and network communications
  • Understanding of Datacentre technologies like:
  • SAN and Storage connectivity
  • Backup and restore technologies
  • Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI)
  • Functional knowledge of Amazon Web Services
  • Functional knowledge of Google Cloud services
  • Global cloud trends
  • Knowledge of the following Microsoft platforms and technologies:
  • Microsoft ATA / ATP / AIP

Microsoft System Center:

  • Operations , Service & Configuration Manager
  • ITIL / TOGAF Foundation
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Beneficial but not essential)
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing Certifications. (MCSA - 0365, MCSE - Productivity, MTA: IT Infrastructure or other relevant IT Qualifications)
  • Hypervisor qualification will be beneficial. (VMWare and Hyper-V)
  • Veeam Certified Engineer. (VMCE)

Experience in the implementation, troubleshooting and support of the following Microsoft Technologies is essential:

Qualifications and Certifications:

BUI is of the opinion that we would rather employ someone with the necessary working experience than someone with certifications and little or no experience, however the following certifications would be beneficial to the candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Beneficial but not essential)
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing Certifications. (MCSA - 0365, MCSE - Productivity, MTA: IT Infrastructure or other relevant IT Qualifications)
